Reports of women finding a masked trespasser includes an important reminder to lock doors and windows; Teri Barr joins The Maggie Daun Show to talk about it and Daun shares her own safety story
Police are searching for a home intruder who has shocked at least three different women after they found him inside their homes in Oshkosh during the last month. Their screams scared the trespasser away. And though no one has been hurt and nothing stolen, officers are asking residents to remain vigilant.
Those investigating these specific cases are also using the opportunity to remind everyone, though the weather may be nice, you should still be sure to lock your doors and windows. It’s not clear if these incidents are related, but it’s believed the suspect was able to get in due to doors or windows that weren’t locked.
The most recent report includes a woman walking into her bedroom around 1 a.m. She found the suspect waiting for her there, screamed, and ran from her home located near the 800 block of John Avenue. She described him as around six-feet-tall, wearing skinny jeans, a black shirt, and a ski mask.
In two earlier incidents, the women woke up to find the suspect standing over them while sleeping in bed.
One happened at a home near the 800 block of Vine Avenue around 7:30 p.m. The other at a house in the 1200 block of Wisconsin Street at 4 a.m. The suspect in both of these incidents is described as around six-feet-tall, and wearing dark pants with a dark, slim fitting shirt or jacket. He was also wearing a ski mask.
Police are asking anyone with surveillance cameras in the area to review their footage in case the suspect was caught on video. If you have information, call the Oshkosh Police Department at 920-236-5700. You can also remain anonymous by using the Winnebago County Crime Stoppers number at 920-231-8477.
