OSHKOSH, WI – (WISS) – The Oshkosh Area School District (OASD) Board of Education has a vacant seat to fill. They are accepting applications following the resignation of Liz Szilagyi.
Szilagyi resigned effective June 28th to move out of state for an employment opportunity.
The new appointee will serve until the next regular election in April 2025. Resumes and cover letters are due to the board by 12:30 pm on August 2nd.
People who wish to apply must submit a resume and/or cover letter that includes why they are interested in serving on the Board, by 12:30 p.m. on August 2 to the Board President. Application material can be hand-delivered or emailed as follows:

Each applicant/candidate must also attend an in-person interview at a publicly noticed, televised meeting of the Board on August 8 at 5 p.m. The board will publicly consider all identified potential appointees and will choose a candidate to fill the vacant seat on that same day.
Each potential appointee must also submit a sworn declaration of eligibility to hold the vacant board seat. According to the Wisconsin Elections Commission, an eligible candidate must be a citizen of the United States; 18 years of age or older; and a resident of the school district for at least 28 consecutive days at the time of filing a declaration of candidacy.
The Oshkosh Area School District Board of Education is a team of seven people elected by school district voters to establish policy and set goals for the administration. They hold public meetings twice monthly, in addition to several committee meetings.
