Northeast Wisconsin Democrats gear up for November election 

GREEN BAY, WI – (WGBW & WISS) – Northeast Wisconsin Democrats are increasing campaign efforts, canvassing, and personnel ahead of the November election. They are focusing on local elections, but also working hard for the Harris/Walz ticket.

Lieutenant Governor Sara Rodriguez

Lieutenant Governor Sara Rodriguez was in Appleton and Green Bay Saturday for canvass launches. She underscored the contrast between the ticket of Vice President Kamala Harris and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz with its vision of a more hopeful future for all Americans and the Republican ticket of former President Donald Trump and JD Vance and its Project 2025 agenda.

“There are two very competing visions for their different campaigns. You have Vice President Harris, who’s looking towards the future. Who is wanting to invest in the middle class. Who is making sure she’s protecting our rights such as reproductive health care. And then you contrast that with Trump and his vision which is backward looking. 

“You look at Project 2025; looking to ban abortion nationwide, to get rid of the Department of Education. These are not popular areas for Wisconsin – not popular areas for the United States. And that’s why he’s trying to run away so quickly from Project 2025. “But that is his playbook for his next administration.

“People need to know what’s on the line. People need to decide what vision they want for Wisconsin and what vision they want for the U.S. Do we want to move forward or do we want to keep looking back?” Rodriguez said.

Rodriquez told canvassers if former President Trump is re-elected it will be a threat to our democracy. She said that was proven during the recent debate between Harris and Trump.

“You were able to see the chaos, the incoherence, the anger, and just the vile rhetoric that came out of his (Trump’s) mouth,” Rodriguez said. “That is who Trump is and Project 2025. No matter how hard he tries to run away with that – That is his playbook.”

Kris Alfheim – Candidate for Wisconsin Senate District 18

Northeast Wisconsin Democrats are also throwing their efforts behind the Harris/Walz campaign. 

Kris Alfheim is running for Wisconsin Senate District 18, which covers the Fox Cities from Little Chute to Oshkosh. She said she feels joy and enthusiasm from voters in this 2024 election. 

“Listen, I’ve been around in this quite a while, but I tell you, I’ve never felt this energy. I’ve never felt this energy at the doors. I have never felt this energy walking down the streets. I had never felt this energy in this office,” Alfheim told a group of canvassers. “I am so excited to be part of the Democratic family here in Wisconsin. We will be making an impact. We make an impact every day in every neighborhood, in every district in the state, and across the country.”

Emily Tseffos – Candidate for Assembly District 56

Outagamie County Democratic Chair, Emily Tseffos is also the Democratic candidate for Assembly District 56 covering New London and Hortonville.

“This is the work between now and November 5th, that is going to make sure that we deliver Wisconsin for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz. Make sure we re-elect Tammy Baldwin. And that we are electing Democrats down that entire ticket who are fighting for Wisconsinites.”

Amaad Rivera-Wagner – Candidate for 90th Assembly District

Amaad Rivera-Wagner is the Democratic candidate for Wisconsin’s 90th Assembly District. 

“It is time to make sure that we take nothing for granted,” said Rivera-Wagner. “In Green Bay and Wisconsin – the elections are always close. We need to make sure that we are talking to our folks, talking to voters because we’re building a coalition of the willing who want to see progress.” 

Rivera-Wagner said Northeast Wisconsin is vital for the candidates because those that win Brown County and Door County often win the statewide elections. He believes that will translate to the presidential race as well.

“In a purple state, in a purple county, and a purple district,” Rivera-Wagner said. “You couldn’t get anymore – If you don’t win these areas, you can’t win the state, and you can’t win the presidency.”

Northeast Wisconsin efforts

The Harris/Walz campaign has a staff member working in every county to bring the ticket’s message to the voters. 

While the Northeast Wisconsin Democrats and surrogates for the Harris/Walz campaign are visiting the region to drum up support, neither the Vice President nor her running mate has visited any city in Northeast Wisconsin. Both have made several stops in the southern, central, and northwestern portions of the state.

Meanwhile, Former President Trump and JD Vance have both made campaign stops in the Greater Green Bay Area.

In the meantime, the campaign announced Harris will be making another trip to Wisconsin on Friday of this week. There are no details yet on where that campaign visit will be.
