Drinking Habits by Tom Smith is a farce featuring a cast of villagers, some of whom are nuns that have been secretly making wine in the church basement. After someone anonymously submits that secret brew into a winemaking competition the church quickly becomes the focus of an investigation to find the brewery. Before long the Vatican begins an investigation of it’s own and chaos ensues. All the while the nuns do their best to cover up their new favorite activities. The hilarious and fast paced show should be a fun time for all ages and audiences.
Drinking Habits is directed by John Young. He has directed several other plays at Wisconsin Rapids Community Theatre in the past few years, and has many years of acting with the theatre. The cast’s experience ranges from this being their first show to being decades long veterans of the WRCT stage. A balance that plays very well for this ensemble. In the interview both the cast members and James invited all of those who may have an interest in participating in the future to audition for any of this season’s upcoming shows. The next auditions will be for the holiday classic, White Christmas, on October 7th and 8th.
The show’s opening weekend will be September 26th, September 27th and September 28th. On Thursday the 26th and Friday the 27th shows begin at 7pm, and Saturday the 28th is the 2 pm matinee. The cast and crew of Drinking Habits will also have a second weekend of shows. The second weekend is Thursday October 3rd and Friday October 4th at 7pm, and Saturday October 5th at 2pm. Tickets can be purchased for either the whole season or for just one showing at the WRCT website.
