WISCONSIN RAPIDS, Wis (WFHR/WIRI) – Library Director Katherine Elchert shared her excitement about the Noon Years Eve party on December 31st at McMillan Library. She said the balloon drop will be spectacular and a good lead-up to parties also ringing in the New Year later in the day. McMillan Library will be closed on January 1st for the New Years Day holiday. On January 2nd, the library will be holding a blood drive with the Red Cross. It will be from 10 AM to 3 PM on Thursday, January 2nd. You can schedule an appointment through the Red Cross website.
Every Wednesday, the library partners with Mid-State Technical College to provide tech help for anyone struggling with their technology. This free event is from 9 AM to 11 AM. If there’s something the Mid-State students can’t help you with, they will refer you to their tech guru.
The 1st Thursday of every month, they have a LEGO Club build. Each month has a theme and January’s is what can you build in all one color? It takes place from 4 to 6 PM upstairs in the Children’s Area. It’s a good opportunity to meet other families who also enjoy building with LEGOs.
Every Thursday, the Adult Coloring Club called Cool Colors meets from 10-11 AM in the upstairs Training Room. No supplies are needed, the library will supply all coloring utensils and coloring sheets. They play soft music and a time to meet friends or make new ones.
Every Monday, they show a movie two times. First at 1:30 and again at 6. The movie is played with captions so everyone can enjoy the film even if they struggle to hear. The next movie is The Apprentice on January 6th, 2025.
Musicians gather to play every 2nd Wednesday of the month with Cowboy Union Jam. They play a variety of music that includes traditional country, bluegrass and gospel.
