OSHKOSH, WI- (WISS) – Nestled in Downtown Oshkosh is a sweet little candy shop that prides itself on creating a community for families, those with a sweet tooth, and people looking for healthy drinks and delicious treats. It is Yetti Yums Sweet Shop, which celebrated its one-year anniversary of the candy store, lotus energy drinks, and Kombucha.
“We’re so grateful for the support and love from the Oshkosh community,” said Anna Moon, owner of Yetti Yums. “This past year has been a dream come true.”
Moon owns and operates Yetti Yums with her husband, Michael. Both still have full-time jobs outside of the sweet shop. So family members help them to keep the shop open during the week.
“It’s just a fun community,” Moon said. “We want people to come together, bring their kids, and have samples.”
Yetti Yums prides itself on creating a family-friendly environment and offering one-of-a-kind sweet experiences. From the fun of sampling over 15 varieties of freeze-dried candy to the exciting lotus energy drinks, it’s a shop dedicated to making every visit memorable.
Yetti Yums started its journey in Oshkosh by selling creative candy creations at local craft fairs and farmers’ markets in 2022. Moon said the whole thing started during the pandemic when she purchased a used freeze dryer to make camping food for her husband. Then, their daughter got some inspiration from a social media site.
“Our older daughter said, ‘Hey! You guys should do candy. It’s all over Tik Tok,’” Moon said. “So the whole family got together. We figured out a name we liked and figured out a logo. Within two months, we were signing up for craft fairs. And everyone was just loving it.”
Yetti Yums started as a cottage law business. However, a judge later declared that the law didn’t cover freeze-drying in the home. So Yetti Yums had to find a commercial kitchen to work out of.
“We found a commercial kitchen space. Thunderbird Bakery was nice enough to rent us a space,” said Moon. “We would go there when they were closed and run all the machines. And that was quite a bit of work.”
The overwhelming support and enthusiasm from the community inspired them to open a permanent downtown shop in 2024. For a year now, Yetti Yums has been making its freeze-dried treats, cotton candy, and energy drinks, and providing a sweet place for families to come.
In addition to the lotus energy drinks, Moon said Yetti Yums has partnered with BFF Kombucha. People can come and refill their kombucha growlers and sample the delicious kombucha varieties.
Moon said she is excited to see what the future holds for the brand and the business, but she is mostly excited about the community they are creating.
“We have a lot of father-daughter dates that come here – mother-son dates. Sometimes at a certain age, 10-year-olds, 12-year-olds, it’s difficult to find something fun. And kids love candy,” Moon said. “Even the adults and the teenagers, with 15 different samples, or more, you always get a smile on their face no matter how old they are.”
