He is on the frontlines of a pivotal battle for the State Supreme Court. Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chairman Ben Wikler is also on a mission to raise funds to counter a tidal wave of money from right-wing billionaires like Elon Musk. Musk is backing Brad Schimel’s campaign in hopes of taking control of the Wisconsin Supreme Court. Wikler joins Mark Becker, host of Rational Revolution, to discuss unchecked power threatening the rule of law and the rights of ordinary people while calling it a fight for democracy.

“This race is the most important election of the year,” Wikler explains, while noting that Schimel’s radical agenda, fueled by extreme interests, would roll back decades of progress in Wisconsin.

“In contrast, Susan Crawford, the progressive candidate, embodies fairness, justice, and a commitment to serving the people,” he says. “Her life’s work as a prosecutor and judge demonstrates a deep understanding of the law and its impact on victims, communities, and the environment.”

Wikler is stressing the importance of voters going to the polls for this race. Historically, Supreme Court races in Wisconsin see far lower turnout than presidential elections. He’s focusing on motivating residents to show up and vote for a fair and impartial court system.

“This election will not only have an impact on the balance of power in the state but could also have national repercussions, influencing control over the maps and, potentially, Congress itself,” Wikler says.

And once again with the eyes of the nation on a Wisconsin election, Wikler wants to ensure the state’s high court remains a check on power, not an instrument to carry out a political agenda.
