MADISON, Wis (CIVIC MEDIA) – Democratic Senator Dassler-Alfheim partnered with the legislative LGBTQ+ Caucus to introduce an equality package Thursday that would officially recognize this June as Pride Month, among other items.
Details on the bill, titled the 2025 Equality Agenda, stem from a news release from the senator’s office. The package is composed of four bills and two joint resolutions that seek to install equity and protections for Wisconsin’s LGBTQ+ community, label June as Pride Month, and remove marriage restrictions from the state constitution.
Senator Dassler-Alfheim asserts her belief the constitution should be equal for all in a statement:
I’m proud to have co-authored this legislation, but I find it frustrating that the LGBTQ+ community continues to have to fight for the same rights that everyone else takes for granted. This country is founded
on the principle that we are all created equal. This package ensures that Wisconsin’s constitution and statutes reflect that.
