Senator Tammy Baldwin listed as target of Minnesota shooter, manifesto reveals
WISCONSIN (CIVIC MEDIA) – U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin’s office confirmed to Civic Media that her name was on the Minnesota assassin’s manifesto.
The assailant, 57-year-old Vance Boelter, is charged with the murder of Minnesota Representative Emerita Melissa Hortman and her husband, as well as stalking and shooting Senator John Hoffman and his wife. He was apprehended Sunday, June 15 in Green Isle, MN after leading police on a two-day manhunt.
A spokesperson in Senator Baldwin’s office told Civic Media’s Dan Schafer that Senator Baldwin was informed by law enforcement that she was included on the alleged shooter’s list of names.
Senator Baldwin stated that she “remains focused on the things that matter most here: honoring the legacy and life of Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband, Mark, praying for the other victims who are fighting for their lives, and condemning this abhorrent, senseless political violence.”
11 Wisconsin-based lawmakers appeared on Vance Boelter’s hit list, including Democratic Representative Gwen Moore, who thanked law enforcement for taking the gunman into custody in a post on X.
Ongoing discussions regarding increased security are being had at Wisconsin’s capitol.
