MADISON, Wis (CIVIC MEDIA) – The Wisconsin State Assembly passes legislation known as “Braydn’s Law” to strengthen penalties for people found guilty of sextortion.

Mosinee Republican Representative Brent Jacobson took to social media following the bill’s passage, labeling it in a post as “a major step toward protecting our children.”

The bill is named after Bradyn Bohn, a 15-year-old from Wausau who committed suicide in March after falling victim to a sextortion scheme. Under the bill, perpetrators could be charged with felony murder if a victim takes their own life.

Sextortion is a tactic scammers utilize that targets and coerces minors into sending explicit images or videos.
