OSHKOSH, WI—(WISS)— After three and a half months of striking, picketing in rain and snow, and negotiating, United Auto Workers Local 291 and Cummins in Oshkosh have come to an agreement. Thus ending a months-long strike.

Eighty-five union workers will return to work on Monday, July 7th, making diesel fuel engines and generators.
Ryan Compton, UAW Local 291 president, told the Oshkosh Northwestern that the workers didn’t get much in the way of raises, but did settle the question of mandatory Saturday shifts. The union agreed to one extra Saturday for inventory, but that’s it.

Earlier this month, 34 Wisconsin Senators and Representatives wrote a letter to Cummins in support of the striking workers.
The Cummins plant in Oshkosh employs 129 people. Globally, it employs approximately 75,000 workers.
