Packers use training camp to boost nonprofits
GREEN BAY, Wis (WISS) – The Green Bay Packers organization is encouraging fans who attend the Packers Training Camp to interact with and support local nonprofit organizations through the “Nonprofit of the Day” program.
The program is a community outreach initiative to connect nonprofits with community members at the training camp.
This is the third year of the program, which features local nonprofit organizations at most weekday practices, open to the public. This year, 20 nonprofits were chosen to participate from a field of nearly 40 submissions. Each organization will share information about its nonprofit, the services it provides to the community, and opportunities for fans to give back. The nonprofits will also offer activities for guests to engage in.
The nonprofits will be set up in the parking lot to the east of Ray Nitschke Field, between gates 1 and 2. They will begin interacting with visitors 90 minutes prior to the start of practice. All practices are scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m., but please note that start times are subject to change.
The program is part of Green Bay Packers Give Back, the team’s all-encompassing community outreach initiative that includes the Green Bay Packers Foundation, appearances made by players, alumni, coaches, and staff, football outreach, cash and in-kind donations, Make-A-Wish visit,s and community events.
