RACINE, Wis. (WRJN) — The Kettle Moraine chapter of the First Cavalry Division of Southeast Wisconsin unveiled new granite and brick memorials honoring the division Saturday at Pritchard Park in Racine.
The memorials were dedicated during a ceremony at the park located at the intersection of Highway 11 and Ohio Street. Racine Mayor Cory Mason and Racine County Executive Jonathan Delagrave attended the event.
The First Cavalry Division is one of the most decorated combat divisions of the United States Army. It has served in World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, the Gulf War, and the Iraq War among other major conflicts.
The new memorials pay tribute to the division’s history and the sacrifices of its members. Funded through private donations, they feature engraved bricks and granite monuments.
