MADISON, Wis. (Civic Media) – Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers is proclaiming Thursday, July 18 as “Culver’s Day” in the state.
July 18 is the 40th anniversary of the founding of Culver’s Restaurants in Sauk City.
Evers said that the day is set to recognize “a family-owned and operated business that started right here in Wisconsin.”
“As a staple in America’s Dairyland, Culver’s also works to support Wisconsin’s long and proud tradition as the Dairy State, sourcing family farm-fresh dairy products and raising millions of dollars to help educate the public on the importance of our farmers and local producers, our agricultural industries, which contribute mightily to our state and our economy as a whole,” Evers said in the proclamation. “For the past four decades, the Culver’s success story has exemplified what it means to keep service, kindness, and hard work at the forefront, and I’m glad to be able to help celebrate this iconic Wisconsin business today.”
Culver’s has grown to over 970 restaurants across the United States since its founding on July 18, 1984.
To celebrate, Culver’s is holding a block party in Sauk City on Thursday, hosting an online contest to give away cash and prizes, and is planning on donating part of its sales on July 18 to local organizations at the discretion of each restaurant.
In Wisconsin, several restaurants are supporting Make-A-Wish Wisconsin through its July 18 sales.
The company, which has donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to charity, youth sports, agriculture, hurricane relief, and other efforts over the years, emphasizes its work in communities across the country.
Culver’s also sponsors a college football bowl game in Sun Prairie, Wis. that features teams from Wisconsin, Illinois, and Missouri. The Culver’s Isthmus Bowl is going on its fourth year, with Culver’s chairman Craig Culver on hand to conduct the coin toss.
