Listening & Reception

1. What frequencies can I listen to WRJN on?

WRJN broadcasts on three frequencies: 1400 AM, 99.9 FM in Racine, and 98.1 FM in Kenosha. You can tune in to whichever signal works best in your area. 

2. How can I listen to WRJN online?

You can listen to WRJN by clicking the button at the bottom of this page, or by downloading the free Civic Media app from the App Store or Google Play store. You can also ask your smart speaker to “Play W-R-J-N.”

3. Is there a WRJN mobile app?

Yes! Search for “Civic Media” in the App Store (iOS) or Google Play store (Android) to download our free mobile app and listen anywhere.

4. What areas does WRJN cover?

WRJN primarily serves Racine and Kenosha counties in Wisconsin, with signal coverage extending into parts of south Milwaukee.

5. Why do you broadcast on both AM and FM?

WRJN originally broadcasts on 1400 AM, with FM translators at 99.9 FM (Racine) and 98.1 FM (Kenosha) added in 2016 to provide better signal quality and reach more listeners across the region.

Programming & Content

6. What type of music does WRJN play?

WRJN features “timeless hits” – an oldies format with music from the late 1950s, 1960s, and early 1970s, featuring iconic artists from those eras.

7. What is “The Don Rosen Show”?

The Don Rosen Show is our live local morning program, airing weekdays from 6:00-9:00 AM. The show features interviews with local movers and shakers, community conversations, and keeps listeners connected to everything happening in Racine.

8. Do you broadcast local news?

Yes! WRJN provides in-depth local news coverage for Racine and Kenosha, with news updates twice per hour during the day, plus comprehensive newscasts featuring local, state, and national news.

9. What sports teams does WRJN broadcast?

WRJN is your home for Green Bay Packers football, Milwaukee Brewers baseball too and Racine Raiders football! We also carry local high school sports in season.

10. Do you have weekend programming?

Yes! Saturday features Terry Havel’s “Rock and Roll Never Forgets” show from 10:00 AM-2:00 PM, plus Rick Johnson’s show. Sunday mornings feature Lou Rugani’s “Music of The Stars” from 7:00 AM-noon.

Station Information

11. How long has WRJN been on the air?

WRJN has been broadcasting since December 1926, making it nearly 100 years old. The station originally had the call letters WLBG, then WRRS, before becoming WRJN on April 28, 1928.

12. What does WRJN stand for?

WRJN originally stood for the Racine Journal News, the daily newspaper that owned the station when it received those call letters in 1928.

13. Who owns WRJN?

WRJN is owned by Civic Media, Inc., which acquired the station in 2023. Civic Media operates a network of 32 radio stations across Wisconsin, Michigan and Minnesota.

14. Where are WRJN’s studios located?

Our studios and business offices are located at 4201 Victory Avenue in Racine, WI 53405 – also known as Radio Park. We’ve been broadcasting from this location since 1926.

Technical Questions

21. What is WRJN’s broadcast power?

WRJN operates as a Class C AM station at 1,000 watts using a non-directional antenna on 1400 AM.

22. Why can’t I hear the FM signal in my area?

The FM translators at 99.9 FM and 98.1 FM are designed to serve Racine and Kenosha respectively. If you’re outside these areas, try tuning to 1400 AM or listen online through our website or app.

23. Does WRJN have farm reports?

Yes! Farmers can tune in to The Midwest Farm Report with Pam Janke between 5:00-6:00 AM, plus agriculture reports throughout the day.
