The 2024 spring primary in Wisconsin has several key positions up for grabs in Southeast Wisconsin.

In Milwaukee County, the mayoral race in the City of Milwaukee features three candidates, including incumbent Cavalier Johnson, David King, and Ieshuh Griffin. The aldermanic races today in the city of Milwaukee are in the 5th, 7th, and 11th districts. In the 5th, incumbent Lamont Westmoreland is facing challengers Bruce Winter and Stacy Smiter. The 7th features Jessica Currie, Randy Jones, Diandre Jackson, and Kenneth Hughes. The 11th Aldermanic District sees a contest between Peter Burgelis, Lee Whiting, and Josh Zepnick. The Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors 18th District has a race between incumbent Deanna Alexander, Brandon Williford, and Marty Hagedorn.

In Waukesha County, there’s a contest for the City of Brookfield’s 5th Aldermanic District seat. It’s a race to replace outgoing Alderman Scott Berg. The candidates vying for this position are Sean Campbell, Amanda Davis, and Dean Marquardt. In the Town of Genesee, the race for Town Board Supervisor features a crowded field with candidates Tony Reece, Terry Tesch, Art Schneider, Mark Pichler, Adam Coker, and Adrian Tengler. In the Village of Waukesha, the race for Village Trustee includes the incumbent Michael Goerectke, who will face challengers Roger Adams and Cheryl Kaye.

In Kenosha County, the mayoral race is in the spotlight as incumbent John Antaramian is retiring. The candidates vying for this position include Gregory Bennett Jr., David Bogdala, Koerri Elijah, Elizabeth Garcia, Tony Garcia, Kelly MacKay, Andreas Meyer, Mary Morgan, and Lydia Spottswood. Additionally, the 3rd District Aldermanic race in the City of Kenosha features incumbent Jan Michalski, Cortney Marshall, and Tanya McLean.

In Racine County, the aldermanic races in Districts 2 and 4 are drawing attention, with several candidates competing for these positions. In District 2, incumbent Mollie Jones is facing challengers David Czuper, Xavier Kendall Golden, and Tyler Townsend. Meanwhile, in Aldermanic District 4, the race features Keith Fair, Jordan Lawrence, David Maack, and Jacqueline Schrader. Current alder Amanda Paffrath isn’t running for re-election.

The primary will also see school district referenda, with the Waterford Union High School District asking some Waukesha and Racine county voters if they can spend an extra $91 million dollars in two ballot questions. It’s the most expensive school referendum in the state on the February ballot. The Wilmot Union School District in Kenosha County is asking if they may exceed state revenue limits by roughly $7 million over the next 3 years. The Burlington Area School District is also seeking an $11 million referendum to cover increased operational and maintenance costs.

The outcomes of these primary elections will set the stage for April elections. For more about voting in Wisconsin and to see your ballot, check MyVote.Wi.Gov
