Conagra’s Beaver Dam facility to close, affecting 250 employees
Beaver Dam, Wis (Civic Media) – Conagra says they will be closing their Beaver Dam facility by the end of the year. The frozen food line will cease production in August, while the freezer plant is scheduled to shut down permanently by January 3rd, 2025.
Approximately 250 employees will be affected by the closure, according to Conagra representative Daniel Hare. Hare says the decision to close the facility is part of Conagra’s ongoing evaluation of its food production facilities, aimed at ensuring efficiency and competitiveness. It was stressed in a statement that the decision had nothing to do with the employees or output.
The Beaver Dam facility, located at 1201 Green Valley Road, has been in operation since 1972. It became part of the Conagra Brands family in 2018 following the acquisition of Pinnacle Foods. Conagra is a prominent food company known for its diverse portfolio of brands, including Birds Eye, Slim Jim, and Duncan Hines.
There are requirements when a business closes and one of them is to file a notice with the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development. The WARN notice filed by Conagra is here. In it, the company says they are committed to providing support to affected employees. The company will offer severance benefits.
Conagra Brands, Inc does business on the NYSE as (CAG). The value of the company has mainly gone up over the past month, with a recent setback this week.
