RACINE, Wis. (WRJN) — Summer fun in Racine is about to make a splash as the city’s two main beaches prepare to open for the season.

North Beach will kick off operations on June 1, according to a recent press release from Racine Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services. Lifeguards will be on duty from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.

Next week, on June 8, Zoo Beach will open its shores to beachgoers. The beach, directly north of North Beach and accessible via the Lake Michigan Pathway, will have lifeguards present every Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

In addition to the lifeguard services, North Beach will offer the Beachside Oasis, a concession stand open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. for refreshments and snacks.

The city has outlined several guidelines for the beaches. Prohibited items include motor boats, wind surfers, floating devices, alcoholic beverages (except within the Oasis area), motorized vehicles, glass containers, fires, and pets.

Swimmers are advised to stay within the designated protected areas and avoid blocking the space in front of lifeguard chairs, boats, or rescue boards. Lifeguards may restrict the swimming area if hazardous conditions arise.
