KENOSHA, Wis. (WRJN) — Pilots at Kenosha Regional Airport can expect smoother takeoffs and landings thanks to a $5.5 million federal grant for runway and infrastructure improvements.

The funding, part of the 2024 annual government funding bill, will finance the reconstruction of 4,500 feet of existing concrete runway and connectors. It will also cover upgrades to runway and taxiway lighting systems.

Kenosha Regional Airport is one of several Wisconsin airports receiving federal funding for upgrades.

Airport officials anticipate the renovations will benefit both recreational and business travelers, potentially attracting more air traffic to the region.

The news came through a press release from Senator Tammy Baldwin.
