MILWAUKEE, Wis (Civic Media) — Emissions testing is now a DIY project. The Wisconsin Department of Transportation has expanded its vehicle emissions testing program with two new self-service kiosks in southeastern Wisconsin.

You can find the self-serve stations at Wisconsin Vehicle Inspection Program facilities on Brown Deer Road in Brown Deer and in Oak Creek on S. 27th St

The kiosks operate 24/7 and can be run on vehicles from 2007 and newer. A statement says the kiosks offer a convenient option for drivers needing to complete mandatory emissions tests.

A similar system is being used in Maryland, their DOT has uploaded a video showing how it works

Vehicles kept in Kenosha, Milwaukee, Ozaukee, Racine, Sheboygan, Washington, and Waukesha counties are required to undergo emissions testing.

Drivers can find their nearest testing facility by visiting the WIVIP website and entering their zip code.

The expansion aims to improve accessibility and efficiency for the required emissions testing in the region.
