MADISON, Wis. (WMDX) – Madison Alder Charles Myadze has been arrested on charges of strangulation and battery.
Myadze was accused by multiple women of harassment, including fellow Alder Julianna Bennett. Then more women came forward. Multiple women accused him of domestic abuse, including former Madison detective and former deputy mayor Gloria Reyes.
In an investigation into Myadze by an independent firm, lawyers found the women to be credible, but said they didn’t have enough evidence to prove he violated city rules.
Myadze was censured Tuesday night and removed from subcommittees.
Now, the case has moved from procedural to criminal.
Madison Police confirmed they arrested Myadze Thursday afternoon without incident. They arrested him on tentative charges of strangulation, false imprisonment, battery, burglary, and burglary causing battery.
