Racine Voters Face Tax Decisions as Wisconsin’s Early Voting Kicks Off
RACINE, Wis. (WRJN) – In-person absentee voting for Wisconsin’s April 1st election begins today, with voters facing decisions on local referendums, neighborhood races, and statewide contests.
City of Racine voters will decide on a $1.5 million annual property tax levy increase to maintain nine paramedic/EMT positions, currently funded by a temporary federal grant. The referendum would raise taxes by $31 per year per $100,000 of assessed home value.
Racine Unified School District is seeking voter approval for a $190 million operational referendum over five years. If passed, it would increase property taxes by $35 annually per $100,000 of equalized property value.
Statewide, voters will choose a new Supreme Court justice, elect the top educational official, and decide on a constitutional amendment regarding voter ID requirements.

”Early voting locations and hours vary by municipality. Voters are required to show photo ID to receive an absentee ballot.
