RACINE, Wis. (WRJN) – The future of fishing in Racine County is bright. The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is enchancing the local fishing opportunities by stocking thousands of rainbow trout in local ponds.
Quarry Lake received over 3,000 trout earlier this week, while Pritchard Park was stocked with 500 fish. Additional ponds, including Lockwood Park, Johnson Park, Reservoir Park, and Gorney Park, will see a combined total of more than 3,000 trout added this week.
The stocking initiative aims to enhance recreational fishing in urban areas. Specific numbers include 200 trout at Lockwood Park Pond, 500 at Johnson Park Pond, 600 at Reservoir Park Pond, and 1,775 at Gorney Park Pond. A statement says the efforts align with the Wisconsin DNR’s commitment to promoting accessible fishing opportunities for everyone.
