MADISON, Wis (CIVIC MEDIA) – A doe at a Rock County deer farm has tested positive for chronic wasting disease (CWD), an infectious illness that affects the brain.
Details on the positive case stems from a Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) news release.
The area is under quarantine as experts conduct an investigation. CWD is a fatal, neurological illness that affects deer, elk, and moose. The disease cannot infect humans, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
Visit the DATCP website for more on their Farm-Raised Deer Program.
