MADISON, Wis (CIVIC MEDIA) – The Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services has announced the distribution of over 36 million dollars to fire departments across the state.

The funding comes from the two percent Fire Dues Program, which requires insurers to pay two percent of the premiums they collect to the state for distribution to professional, volunteer, and hybrid fire departments.

This year’s funding through the program increased by nearly 12 percent.

Fire departments use the money they receive for things like equipment, fire prevention programming, and crew training.
