Catch all the exciting action of the Milwaukee Brewers again this year on AM1400 WRJN, and 99.9 FM in Racine, 98.1 FM in Kenosha. The Brewers are poised to have another exciting season. Last year they surprised everyone by winning the National League Central Division with a record of 93 wins and 69 losses, a full ten games ahead of rivals the St. Louis Cardinals and Chicago Cubs.
Although the Brewers are one of the younger teams in the big leagues, they are led by veterans like Christian Yelich and Rhys Hoskins, both who had great spring training camps. Outfielder Garrett Mitchell, 6-foot-2, 228 lbs. is becoming a force at the plate. Yelich told JSOnline.com “I think Garrett could easily hit 20 home runs this year.”
Jackson Chourio will be the one to follow this season. Last year in his rookie season he became the youngest player on any major league roster. At age 20, the Brewers believed so much in the outfielder from Venezuela they signed him to an 8-year contract worth $82 million, the largest deal ever for a player before he was even added to the roster. Chourio responded with 21 home runs, and 22 stolen bases, the youngest player to do so since Mike Trout and Vada Pinson. In the 2024 National League Wild Card Series, Chourio hit two home runs, becoming the youngest ever to hit a home run his first at bat in a playoff game, and the first to hit
a pair of game-tying home runs in a postseason game since Babe Ruth in the 1928 World Series.
Defensively the Brewers infield is led by Brice Turang, one of the best at second base, and Joey Ortiz at shortstop. At pitcher, Freddy Peralta, Tobias Myers, and new comer Nestor Cortes are expected to be in rotation this summer. Veteran Brandon Woodruff will be added as he completes his rehab from shoulder surgery. The Brewers are led by Pat Murphy, named manager of the year, and general manager Matt Arnold, named MLB executive of the year, who guided a roster of young talent to the playoffs last season. Hear interviews with the players and coaches during pregame coverage, and the call of the game with the Brewers Radio Network team of Jeff Levering, beginning his 10th season with the team, along with Lane Grindle and Josh Maurer, with tributes to the legendary Hall of Famer Bob Uecker throughout the season on WRJN.
