The Miwaukee Brewers currently have a 2-1 series lead on the Chicago Cubs in the NLDS in the five game series. This means the Brewers only have to win one more game to move on to the NLCS to play the winner of the Dodgers or Phillies series.
Game one started off with the Cub’s Michael Bush leading off with a leadoff homerun for the Cubs that got them a 1-0 lead early. The Brewers offense then exploded in the bottom of the first inning with six runs from a collective of hits from the Brewers as they took a 6-1 lead going into the 2nd inning. The Brewers offense scored three more runs in the bottom of the 2nd to give them a 9-1 lead in the 2nd.
The Cubs offense could never recover as they got a couple solo homers later in the game but the Brewers were too much for them in game one. Freddy Peralta started to lock in after the leadoff homerun as he went a solid 5.2 innings only giving up two runs, along with the Brewers bullpen shutting the cubs down securing a game one victory.
In game two, both offenses were on fire once again to start the game, as Seiya Suzuki hit a three run homer to start the game, and then Andrew Vaughn of the Brewers hit a three run homer in the bottom of the first to tie the game 3-3. After that, it was the only runs the Cubs scored all game, but the Brewers kept tacking on runs throughout the game. Other than Aaron Ashby’s struggle early, the Brewers bullpen game did well throughout the rest of the game, as the Brewers held on to a 7-3 win, placing them one game away from a series win.
The Cubs did not get swept, as they we’re able to take an early lead in game three. Both the Cubs and the Brewers tacked on runs here and there throughout the game, but the Brewers fell just short of a series sweep, as both teams will get ready to play game 4 in Chicago tonight on WRJN at 8:08pm with pre-game starting at 7:30pm.
