On Tuesday night, a longtime Racine rivalry lit up the court as the Racine Lutheran Crusaders faced off against the St. Catherine’s Angels—two programs that have clashed since at least the 1960s.
St. Catherine’s came into the early-season matchup at 1-0, ranked 10th in Division III and 31st in the state, while Racine Lutheran entered 2-0 and ranked 34th in Division III.
The game lived up to the hype, with St. Catherine’s edging out the Crusaders by a single point, 75-74. EJ Vinson led the Angels with 28 points, while Sam Pitrof scored 27 and Bryce Austin added 24 for Racine Lutheran.
This historic rivalry isn’t over yet—Racine Lutheran will host the second meeting on January 27.
