WISCONSIN (Civic Media) – Incumbent Republican Eric Wimberger has been called the winner of the race for the 2nd Senate District in Wisconsin.

The Associated Press made the call Tuesday evening.

Wimberger, who was first elected to the Senate in 2020, is a member of six committees, including the Joint Committee on Finance. He is an attorney and small business owner in Green Bay. Wimberger moved to run in District 2 from where he lives in District 30 and will replace retiring state Sen. Robert Cowles, who spent 42 years in the Senate.

Wimberger defeated Democratic challenger Kelly Peterson, a former broadcast journalist Kelly Peterson, a candidate who was considering a run for Congress before opting for the State Senate.
