MILWAUKEE, Wis. (WAUK) – ICE agents detained two individuals at the Milwaukee County Courthouse in recent weeks. The arrests by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement took place in public hallways.
Forward Latino, a Wisconsin-based advocacy group, announced it is investigating whether ICE agents acted within their legal authority and upheld due process. The organization emphasized its support for law enforcement but condemned “unlawful and immoral” ICE actions, citing risks of unjust detentions.
Forward Latino urged residents in a statement to continue contacting emergency services if they are needed. The statement sent by Eileen Figueroa reads “As we proceed with our investigation, Forward Latino reminds all residents of the City of Milwaukee that it is safe to call 9-1-1 if they witness or are victims of a crime, see a fire, or experience a medical emergency. It is equally safe for all city residents to contact the Milwaukee Police Department, Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office, and the Milwaukee Fire Department for assistance.”
