Independently Owned Sendik’s on Downer Reopens Following Health Department Clearance
MILWAUKEE, Wis. (WAUK) – Nehring’s Sendik’s on Downer Avenue has reopened after a temporary shutdown due to pest issues, the Milwaukee Health Department announced Wednesday.
Inspectors gave the independently owned grocery store a clean bill of health after finding no new rodent activity and confirming all areas had been properly sanitized.

The store, which is not affiliated with the larger Sendik’s chain, had closed earlier this week following reports of escalating pest activity seen during routine inspections.
Health officials said they will continue to monitor the store to ensure it remains in compliance with city and state food safety codes.

Nehring’s Sendik’s thanked customers for their patience during the closure, a statement from the owners is below.
The store is independently owned and operated, and is not affiliated with the larger Sendik’s grocery chain.
